13 weeks = 3 months!

I know that the title looks strange, but it is true. I guess I just always assumed 12 weeks=3 months but not really. Since a month is not exactly 4 weeks, those couple of extra days add up and by this point, you have added an extra week. Hayden is doing really well and I am still amazed every day with the things that he does. I am estimating that he is around 12 1/2- 13 pounds and my arms definetly feel it. I picked him up the other day and was surprised just how heavy he was. He is 23 inches long. (I know this because he surf tummy mat has inches measurments on it so I measured him on that. I have found it to be pretty accurate.) He still eats like a champ. We are currently in the process of increasing his feedings. Right now he gets 2 6oz bottles and 3 5oz. bottles during the day. However he is still up for a feeding at 4 am and we are trying to get rid of that one. So starting tonight, that 4am feeding will be decreased to 4 oz. and his feeding before bed will be increased to 7oz. I am hoping that the bigger feeding before bed will help keep him full longer and that the smaller feeding at 4am will help as well. I am not sure if it will work but it is worth a try. If I could get him to 5-5:30 to eat then that would be better. I am hoping by his 4 month appointment that I will have him off of that 4am feeding. RIght now he gets his night feeding at 9:00pm and so I will be backing that up to 9:30 in hopes of getting longer time in the morning. He is continuing to learn new things everyday and I work each day on different skills with him. He is doing so much better with tummy time and today lifted not only his head but his chest off of the boppy as well. Mommy is so proud! He is also an excellent supported sitter. He loves to sit upright and if you have him reclined on your arm, he will try and lift himself up to a sitting position. It is nicer when I carry him on my shoulder as he now can support his upper body more and doesn't try to fly out of my arms as much as he used to. I am also working with him on fine motor skills such as grabbing at toys. This is the one area he is not as interested in and has just recently started trying (and having success sometimes) to grab and hold a toy. We have started using his Bumbo seat which sometimes he is ok with and others he is not so happy to be in it. I am not sure if he is uncomfortable or unsure about the sitting in a chair thing. Either way, I try to get him in there at least once a day. It is finally sinking in to me that I am not returning to work full time. Being a teacher I had off for the summer. Normally, I would have returned to work this week and it is so strange not to. Every year I go back to school in August so I guess it will just take some getting used to. On the job front I did have a job interview recently for a part time job with Sylvan. I would work in the evenings and on Saturday mornings as a tutor. This would be so perfect for me and I am really hoping I get it. I should hear from them sometime this week. I would not have to put Hayden in daycare or even with a sitter. I would meet Matt at his work at 3:45 to give him Hayden. (This is when he gets off work. I would have to drive right past his work to get there.) I would work from 4:15-8:30 M-Th. and 8:45-1 on Saturday. THis would cut down on the time we would spend together but we are willing to make that sacrifice to give Hayden the chance to be at home with one of us. I am really hoping this works out but if not, then I will have to explore other options. On the losing my baby weight goal, I have lost 1 pound. Not much but it is a start. My family was visiting us this past week and so I really did not focus on weight loss as much with them here. Today however I have decided that it is going to be my focus. 1 pound down only 19 to go. (well only 14 to my pre pregnancy weight but I would love to lose an additional 5 pounds.)

Here are some new pics of Hayden! (Sorry about everything being underlined. I can't figure out how to make it go away.)

Hayden on his lounger pillow. As you can see he is almost too big for it!

Hayden in his Bumbo. He is not crying which is kind of rare. He is not always happy in it.

Big 3 month head lift. He is really working on tummy time and is doing very very well.

Happy baby! I love his 3 month pic. So cute!!!
