First Pedi Visit

Hayden had his 1st visit to the pedi today. He is up to 6 lb. 9 oz. and is 19 inches long. (He was 5 lb 10 oz. and 18 1/2 inches at birth) According to the pedi this is right on the growth curve where he should be. So since he is gaining really well, we no longer have to wake him at night to feed him like we have been doing the last 2 weeks. This is nice so that way we can kind of go on his schedule at night. He told us not to let him go longer than 6 hrs. but I don't think he will go that long without being hungry and waking up. He is also going from 2 oz. to 3 oz. a feeding and spreading it to every 4 hrs. from every 3 hrs. So this was so great to hear that he is healthy and growing like he should be.

Poor baby also has the worst dry and flaking skin. I asked about it and the dr. told me it was from the amniotic fluid and that it would improve once it flaked off. He gave us some body wash to use to help it and told us about a moisturizing cream we could buy. I just feel so bad for him because it looks like he is peeling from a bad sunburn. His umbilical cord is also on the verge of coming off. We got some good tips on how to kind of "move it along" so to say even though Hayden didn't seem to like it when the dr. did it. However it wasn't because he was hurting him, more that he didn't like the cold feeling of the alcohol and the Q-Tips.

He has also outgrown his preemie clothes. He wore those for almost 2 weeks so that was several wears of each outfit. However now he is kind of in between sizes. His newborn clothes are still big on him. He looks like he is swimming in them! However I know he will grow quickly and before I know it, they will be too small as well.

He doesn't go back to the pedi until July for his 2 month check up and shots. That should be a fun visit!! LOL!!
